As part of the World Nomad Games, ceramic artist Shadybek Ernazarov presented his works and conducted a pottery masterclass at the Kurmanzhan Datka Nomadic Civilization Center.
The artist has been working in ceramics for more than 20 years. His works have been showcased at international exhibitions and competitions, with his pieces also finding buyers abroad. Today, one of his key goals is to introduce international audiences to the distinctive character and artistic heritage of Kyrgyz ceramics.
The raku technique holds a special place in Shadybek Ernazarov’s creative practice. His pieces are fired at temperatures of up to 1,200°C, with the final result largely shaped by the interaction of fire and glaze. As a result, each piece is unique.
As part of the Center’s cultural programme, visitors can also take part in masterclasses in ceramics, painting, graphic art and sculpture, as well as explore the “Legend of the Great Mountains” exhibition and the park sculpture alley.
“You never know exactly what will come out of the kiln. Every time, the fire creates something of its own,” says the artist.
