The international research conference “Nomadic Civilisations: Heritage, Paradigms and Prospects”, held as part of the VI World Nomad Games, has concluded its work and adopted a resolution.
Scholars, researchers and members of the academic community from abroad took part. The conference discussed the history and culture of nomadic civilisations, the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage, the development of interdisciplinary research, the digitisation of cultural heritage and its role in contemporary sustainable development.
The resolution adopted at the close sets out specific directions for further academic and international cooperation.
Among the main proposals are the further development of international research into the history, culture, philosophy, social organisation and traditions of nomadic civilisations; the creation of an international academic platform for continuous exchange between researchers; and the expansion of interdisciplinary work involving specialists from different fields.
The resolution pays particular attention to the use of modern digital tools for preserving and studying cultural heritage, including electronic archives, digital collections, research databases and open-access platforms.
It also sets out directions for studying the traditional ecological knowledge of nomadic societies and their historical experience, with a view to applying that knowledge in contemporary approaches to climate adaptation, sustainable use of natural resources and sustainable development.
The resolution provides for wider work to popularise the history and traditional culture of nomadic peoples through educational media projects, and for continued efforts to nominate tangible and intangible heritage of nomadic peoples for the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The resolution will serve as a basis for further cooperation between academic, educational, cultural and international organisations interested in studying, preserving and popularising the heritage of nomadic civilisations.
The conference brought together representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Turkey, the United States, Austria, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, India, Belgium, France, New Zealand, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Ghana, Germany, Italy, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Sri Lanka and Iran.
