An exhibition of works by Kyrgyz painters and sculptors is running at the Kurmanjan Datka Centre of Nomadic Civilisation in the village of Ornok, Issyk-Kul region, as part of the VI World Nomad Games.
About 90 works are on display, reflecting the history, culture, traditions and way of life of the Kyrgyz people. Among them are pieces on national themes, landscapes, studies and works devoted to the heritage of nomadic civilisation.
Forty-five paintings selected through a special competition hold a particular place. More than 100 artists from every region of Kyrgyzstan entered, submitting around 250 works. The best were chosen for their artistic quality, idea, content and fit with the theme of the project.
Guests of the VI World Nomad Games can visit the exhibition, see the work of Kyrgyz masters and come closer to contemporary national art.
Some of the works on display are for sale. Individual pieces by Kyrgyz artists have already drawn interest from foreign guests and have previously been bought for private collections abroad.
