Today, September 3, the Köchmöndör Sanaty International Festival of Traditional Music continues at the Rukh Ordo Cultural and Ethnographic Centre named after Chinghiz Aitmatov.
Events are being held at the Sanat Bashaty, Ethno Fair, Traces of History, Heritage Studio, Treasury of Knowledge, Komuz Pier and Palace of Arts themed venues. They showcase traditional music, dance, handicrafts and storytelling.
An international competition in the instrumental category of professional oral-tradition music is also underway, featuring solo performers and creative groups.
The festival programme includes musical and choreographic performances such as Grandmother’s Tale, Mountain Kyrgyz, Nomadic Dance, A Song About Mother and others. Traditional rituals, handicraft workshops and creative meetings are also being held.
At the Nomadic Heritage mobile studio, traditional musical works are being recorded in audio and video formats, while interviews and podcasts with artists are being produced. The materials will contribute to the creation of an international digital archive of traditional musical art.
