As part of the VI World Nomad Games, renowned American actors Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Bai Ling visited the Kurmanjan Datka Nomadic Civilization Center.
The guests explored the center’s exhibitions and cultural program dedicated to the history, traditions, and heritage of nomadic peoples. The actors were particularly intrigued by the work of Kyrgyz sculptors, who create live sculptural portrait studies of guests directly at the venue — quick, expressive portraits completed in approximately 15–30 minutes.
According to sculptor Almaz Zhamgyrchiev, he and his colleague created portrait studies of Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Bai Ling during their visit. The works will later be refined using photographs, cast, and transferred into plaster. Once completed, the sculptures may be donated to the Kurmanjan Datka Nomadic Civilization Center for display in its museum space.
“We create a portrait study in 15–30 minutes, capturing the sculptural image of the person sitting in front of us. Our Hollywood guests became interested in the process, and today we created their portraits,” said Almaz Zhamgyrchiev.
In this way, contemporary guests to Kyrgyzstan are becoming part of the artistic history of the Center — their presence will be preserved not only in photographs, but also in sculpture.
