Today, September 2, the International Traditional Music Festival “Köchmöndör Sanaty” officially opened at the Chyngyz Aitmatov Rukh Ordo Cultural and Ethnographic Centre in Cholpon-Ata as part of the 6th World Nomad Games.
First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Soyuzbek Nadyrbekov attended the opening ceremony and congratulated the participants and guests.
In his address, Soyuzbek Nadyrbekov noted that “Köchmöndör Sanaty” is one of the key cultural programmes of the global ethnocultural festival “Universe of Nomads: Connecting the Ages”, held as part of the 6th World Nomad Games.
“The festival brings together performers, scholars and researchers from 38 countries. It has united bearers of traditional musical art, professional musicians, scholars, masters and young performers on a single international platform for academic and creative exchange.
Melodies, instrumental compositions, epics, dastans and performance traditions passed down orally from one generation to the next are an invaluable part of humanity’s cultural heritage. The festival is intended not only to preserve this great legacy but also to promote its academic study, development and dissemination in the modern world,” Soyuzbek Nadyrbekov said.
The festival programme includes an international competition, a scientific and practical conference, masterclasses, the “Köchmöndör Sanaty — Melodies of the World” international creative musical dialogues, concert programmes, podcast interviews and audiovisual recordings at the NOMADIC HERITAGE studio, as well as a closing gala concert.
