Kyrchyn, 2 September 2026. National sports, traditional contests and strength disciplines are being held in the Nomads' Universe ethno-cultural village as part of the cultural and sporting programme of the VI World Nomad Games.
On the sports ground in the Kyrchyn valley spectators watch the skill of riders, archers, wrestlers, strongmen and hunters with golden eagles. The competitions in the national game ordo, in Kyrgyz archery and in traditional eagle hunting — bürküt saluu — draw particular interest.
Through the day there are also contests in tayak tartysh (mas-wrestling), tug of war, sumo and strongman. A separate discipline is the traditional bone-breaking contest, omurtka söögü syndyruu.
One of the central events was the long-distance horse marathon, which showed the endurance of the horses and the skill of the riders.
The programme brings together national games, equestrian contests, archery, wrestling and tests of strength, letting guests see the wealth of the sporting traditions of nomadic peoples and how they live on in the culture of Kyrgyzstan today.
