Kyrchyn, 2 September 2026. The national relay contest “Jashoo Jarysh” (“The Race of Life”) is being held in the Nomads' Universe ethno-cultural village as part of the cultural programme of the VI World Nomad Games.
Six teams are taking part, representing the Jalal-Abad, Naryn, Talas, Chuy and Issyk-Kul regions and the Kiyiz Duino ethno-corner.
The teams compete in traditional household and craft skills: chiy soguu (weaving chiy screens), uuk tazaloo (dressing the yurt poles), töshöktü ireti menen jyiuu (folding bedding neatly) and iyrik iyüü (spinning wool).
The contest is intended to preserve and popularise the traditional skills and cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people and to pass them on to the younger generation.
